My Constant Companion

Since the birth of my baby, I’ve had friends and family constantly stopping by, and I love it. I always have a pot of soup simmering away on the stove, which I prepare in the morning. I get all this done before 9am, and my newborn is right there with me, in my baby carrier, while I chop and pour and blend. He is enjoying all the sites and smells, no doubt. Because the soup is ready when they arrive, I don’t need to be preparing for each new guest, and they can simply serve themselves. I’ve got about three soups in my repertoire that are loved by all. I’m not getting sick of them, either, which is a good thing, because I don’t want to make something different for me. My husband is also happy for this arrangement, as he would be the one needing to organise food for everyone if the soup was not there, and he doesn’t really know his way around the kitchen. Now, I am comfortable when my guests arrive, and my husband and I can sit down with anyone who comes over and just relax over a cup of coffee, or juice, and of course, my soup!
